What's Nuriam?

The Amazonas International Relations Center (Nuriam), of the Amazonas State Legislature (Aleam), is a project coordinated by deputy João Luiz (Republicanos-AM) with the objective of integrating public, private and academic entities, expanding the state’s insertion in the international scenario.

“The center is a strategic and innovative project that aims to boost paradiplomacy in the State and strengthen international competitiveness,” says João Luiz.

Achievements that bring the Amazon closer to the world

Mandarim Course

In January 2024, Nuriam took part in the signing of a cooperation agreement between São Paulo State University (Unesp), the Federal University of Amazonas (Ufam), and the Brazil-China Sociocultural Institute (Ibrachina) to offer Mandarin courses at Ufam in Manaus.

Manaus – Portugal

Over 5,000 passengers have flown the Manaus-Lisbon route, according to TAP Air Portugal. This air bridge between the capital of Amazonas and Portugal is one of the outcomes of the Cooperation Agreement between the Government of Portugal and the International Relations Center of the Amazonas State Legislature.

Institutional Visit

Last year, through Nuriam, representatives of the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra (IPC) and UNIgreen – The Green European University visited the facilities of the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) and the production methods of the Formigueiro Group, located in Vila de Lindóia, in the municipality of Itacoatiara.

International Congress

The cooperation also led to the First International Congress on Agriculture, Innovation, and Sustainability in Amazonas, spearheaded by State Representative João Luiz. Held on April 10–11 at the Vasco Vasques Convention Center in Manaus’ Central-South Zone, the congress welcomed over 600 participants from various countries.

  • Signing of the Sebrae-AM membership agreement with Nuriam.
  • Inauguration of the Secretary of International Relations of the Republicans Bruno Góes as deputy coordinator of Nuriam.
  • Signing of the Letter of Intent for Cooperation between the Government of Portugal and Amazonas through Nuriam.
  • Signing of the adhesion term of the Amazonas Government Secretariats to Nuriam.
  • Participation in the implementation of NURI-RJ at ALERJ.
  • Signing of an agreement between Ibrachina, Nuriam, Ufam, Unesp and the Confucius Institute.
